Happiness at work is an emotion – an internal state. You feel it or you don't. After all, it is in you. Although, ofcourse it is influenced by what is happening around you (for example, if someone is not careful).
What's in your head
"The old life is 10% of what happens to you and 90% of the way you react to it" and that's why we need to change the way we think about work. There are some traditional ones like perceptions, ideas and principles that keep us from actually achieving anything.

Attempts to change the external state of work – things like wages, bonuses, promotions, careers, bonuses, etc …
Therefore we need to pay more attention to our internal mental processes to be happy at work and change our thinking about some important points. During the last 200 years, during the industrial era, work was considered very hard and uncomfortable. In fact, that's why they paid us.
From the industrial era onwards, this has largely been due to a lot of tedious and difficult work or even dangerous. Today is getting less and there is much more that is of interest, creative, fun, entertaining and fun jobs to choose from. So we have to change our thinking and expect work to be fun.
