Window blinds can be easily categorized into:-

Roman blinds are made of fabric so that they fold up when raised. A piece of fabric with slats is attached at the back so that the blinds are neatly arranged in a horizontal fold when pulled with a chain or rope. It provides better insulation during the colder months when fully lowered and lying flat as a fabric panel.

Roller blinds are also made of a thick piece of fabric or other material that can be easily rolled up with chains or pre-loaded springs. There are no slats holding up the spine of the blinds, so the material wraps neatly around the lightweight aluminum cylinder even when lifted.

Venetian Blinds are horizontal slats without fabric. The slats are made of wood, vinyl or aluminum and assemble neatly when lifted. The blinds allow light in as the slats rotate from top to bottom.

Vertical blinds, also known as louvre blinds, are generally similar to Venetian blinds, except that the slats, as the name suggests, are hanging vertically, i.e. from top to bottom. Buildings with large glass walls use vertical blinds to create glare protection when needed, while allowing as much light as possible into the interior.

Panel blinds work like vertical blinds, as they protect large openings or windows. The difference is, the panel blinds are mounted on a track system that can be shifted left or right.
