The best action is to use a non-abrasive cleaning method. If your mat lightly stained, use a spray bottle, damp sponge or terry cloth fabric. If your mat heavily stained, dip them in a solution of the warm water bath and mild soap. Use only a small amount of soap to avoid residues. Any remaining residue can cause you to slip and fall off during your yoga session.

Using a Washing Machine

All kinds of fabrics and flexible mats can be cleaned using a washing machine. Rubber and foam mats do not fit into this category. Use a mild detergent and mix in a little cold water. Do not use the spin cycle. If your machine does not have this feature, remember to remove the mat before the spin cycle because it can damage the mat.

Rinsing and drying Yoga Mat

There is a proper way to wash a yoga mat. Wash mat thoroughly and rinse with lukewarm water clean. Do not squeeze your mat as you rinse just let the water run from it naturally because it can be worn mat fabric, especially cotton. Do not fold your mat until it is completely dry.
